I’ve never crocheted before, but the pre-started loop and color-coded yarn took all the guesswork out of my first try. Well, okay, my first llama’s neck is a little squishy—but the kit itself is so forgiving that I’m already planning a second one in a different colorway.

The step-by-step video tutorials made me feel like I had a teacher right there with me, and the yarn is so soft and easy to work with that my stitches actually look neat. I finished Gertrude in two evenings and she's now sitting on my bookshelf, making me smile every time I see her.

I was nervous about trying crochet for the first time, but the kit's pre-made starting loop made it so much easier to jump in. Gertrude turned out a little wonky in the legs, but that's on me, and the included yarn was soft and easy to work with.
